Empowered Moments

Finally, after much procrastination, here (in no particular order) are the Ablaze moments for me:

The Ablaze Musicals: Yes, the skits deserve their very own sub-title and its own bold print as well, so many classic moments. Requirements from each group was: a dramatic pause, someone tripping over a dog, a subliminal advertisement for denture cleaner, incorporation of a pop song (Backstreet Boys, NSync, Destiny’s Child and Britney Spears).

- Team Marvel – Macho Fung who was Sven the Thai, Guru Daniel (the neck turn was brilliant), Fatman Aaron – all classic stuff. Jay does a brilliant Indian and Thai accent.

- Asian Backstreet Boys: poor Aaron he was paid out in TWO musicals. Eddy and John Lau’s rendition of I Want It That Way brought the house down. The winning team (by a narrow margin apparently) of the night.

- Team Fantastic 4×2 (aka Fantastic 8, Fantastic 9): Go Lisa Hong! Mei’s matrix moves were so cool.

- Russell being Confuscius, complete with fake beard and Chinese outfit.

- Girls fawning over Victor for his fake dentures

- Anne having problem with her collar whilst pretending to be a dog. Andrew laughing halfway through the skit was amusing too

- Kenneth advertising denture cleaner, background music being ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’

Team DC: Lucy, Sean, Nick, Tim, Nancy, Bec and David, it was awesome being to lead a team like you – it was great. And our skit fully owned everybody (no bias at all :P )

GO TEAM DC!!!!

Boys Dorms

Two nights in succession saw the silence of the dorms being shattered by a “OHHHH! Who did that!?” According to popular conjecture, Wes was the culprit ;) .

Don: Chris!! Get off me! – sus comment of the camp]

Windows on the wall of every toilet cubicle – a phenomenon that cannot be explained

Pastor Shirley

Apart from being very anointed by God, she is an engaging speaker: [Talking about a member of the her youth group] “When I laid my hands on him, I didn’t want to pray for him – I wanted to strangle him!

Miscellaneous

- Touch footy was fun albeit very painful

- The games: The paper airplane game was thwarted by the gusts that saw everyone’s planes fly everywhere. The long search for Ash that took forever. Newspaper hockey was a free-for-all. So violent, so Ablaze

- The car drive – Tina thanks for amusing us and putting up with me, Chris and Tim Tam on the car trip there.

Ablaze Camp 2007 Empowered: Life Changing and stacks of fun.
